The ALRO Service Department returns a venerable Treatment System to full working order

This RBC (Rotating Biological Contactor) Treatment System suffered shaft bearing failure, necessitating a crane lift of the Rotor.

After receiving a repair request from the Management of a Business Park in East Devon, our Senior Engineer carried-out an initial assessment visit to ascertain the model of the System and its condition.

It is believed to be an Ames Crosta plant, an early RBC Treatment System dating from the 1970s. The bearings were found to have suffered considerable corrosion prior to failing, as this image demonstrates:

With permission for the necessary repairs kindly granted, a works plan was formulated by the Senior Engineer with assistance from other Service Department members. Due to the age of the System, the required replacement parts had to be sourced from a specialist supplier. In addition, due to the size and weight of the RBC rotor a 35t crane and associated equipment was deemed essential.

Our team of engineers then carried out the required repairs over the course of one day, returning the Treatment System to full working order.

The ALRO Service Department now carries out regular maintenance on this system, ensuring correct operational condition is maintained.
